Try decorating a dessert with a store-bought glaze. The design above was made with a chocolate and a vanilla glaze.Here is the same dessert decorated with a very simple rectangular box, again using the chocolate and vanilla glaze. Note how the cherry really adds a lot of color. If I am trying a new design, I always practice on a paper plate to get the design down.A design that makes you simile! WINK WINK! This is one of my favorite designs to use for a birthday dessert. Adding a herb, such as, mint to a dessert can add texture and color.Try using long serving dishes or trays to serve an assortment of desserts. Having a couple or more located around or along a table will make it easier for people to reach. This is always a WINK. It will depend on the number of people, as to how many items you will need on the dish. This would be a good time to stop by the bakery and pick up a variety of desserts. Then all you have to do is use your imagination to decorate your desserts.While in Thailand, I notice that most ice cream stores decorate their ice creams on display. That would be a very easy thing to do at home. Just pick up store-bought ice cream and put in an interesting container. Throw in some complimentary ingredients like fruits, nuts, or maybe a glaze. How simple is that! WINK WINK!This ice cream shop used chocolate, walnuts and caramel on their walnut ice cream to make an appetizing display. You can see there are many ways to decorate your desserts.Display of Croquembouche and lemon custard with a raspberry on top.
I can see making an easy lemon custard and then decorating the top with a fruit, but doing a Croquembouche is another story. Croquembouche is a traditional French wedding cake, made up of a tower of cream-filled, caramel-dipped profiteroles, vanilla cream, sugar almonds and on and on! The recipe says it takes around 5 hours to complete.
I am sharing this photo, I took at a party that two of my friends, Barbara Huber and Christine Huskisson gave this past Christmas for our Garden Club. WINK, WINK! It was truly a spectacular display. Do take the croquembouche off the easy list!
